The consultancy is founded and led by Dr. Marcin Betkier, a privacy and technology regulation expert with a background in law, computer science, and over 15 years of industry experience.
Marcin is driven by curiosity and a passion for navigating change. This mindset has shaped a unique blend of legal expertise and technical proficiency, positioning him as an expert in data privacy, the regulation of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, and broader technology policy. His international experience and cross-disciplinary background make him well-equipped to support organisations facing multi-jurisdictional and multicultural challenges.
He is admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand and is a lawyer in Poland/European Union. He is holding a PhD in Law (Victoria University of Wellington), an MSc in Computer Science (Warsaw University of Technology), LLM (Koźminski University) and MBA (also Koźminski University).
He has advised companies on privacy and technology governance in New Zealand and European Union, taught at the Law School at Victoria University of Wellington, and contributed to policy conversations at the intersection of innovation and ethics. He is also a founding member and a former Chair of Privacy Foundation New Zealand.
Marcin holds IAPP certificates: Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional (AIGP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).
